यूं तो पुराणों में राक्षसों का वर्णन है, परंतु आज के इन इस्लामिक राक्षसों के कृत्यों को देखते हुए पुराणों में वर्णित राक्षस भी सभ्य ही दिखाई देते हैं, क्योंकि उन राक्षसों की भी कुछ सामाजिक मान्यताएं थीं।
