UNHRC credibility is at high stakes owing to the partisan reporting by the Amnesty groups in the two nations. It is difficult to say if India can rely solely on the US for its security concerns…be it against the expansionist China, the terrorist threats of Pak & Afghanistan or Indian interests in Chabahar port of Iran. The ever increasing Chinese influence in the Indian neighbourhood of Myanmar, Hambantota, Gwadar or beyond are worrisome. Whether Quad is able to alleviate some concerns at least, Indian dilemma continues.

For general population as well as for people having cough/sneeze, a 3-layered commercial mask is desirable. These masks contain the droplets within the wearer and thus protects others. In new India, the State must have a proactive approach on all such issues. Our own people must have right to a decent life esp when the nation is going to celebrate its 75th year of independence. The UN Human Rights Council has gradually drifted away from being a true representative of the world populace to a biased body of fewer power blocks. The UNHRC representation is highly flawed with large population being ignored. A nation having 140 Cr population and another having just few thousand, cannot be justified having one vote each in the UNHRC. All religions and cultures must find representation. The power blocks within the council significantly influence their actions. Islamic nations seem to have gained undue advantages.

Afghanistan seems to be swiftly returning to the days of 2001 before US led NATO forces had invaded.

Many of these were of a nature seen only in the hindsight. The second wave of the Covid took everyone by surprise. The extent of the pandemic was such that no govt could have managed. This however, does not absolve either the State Govts (under whom comes the public Health) or the Union Govt who are supposed to be coordinating with them for better response. While the populace in general stood firm by the honesty Modi govt displayed in meeting various challenges on several fronts simultaneously, the opposition politicians esp the Congress & Communists, left no stone unturned in maligning the govt. The many reasons of Confusion and secrecies shrouding the Covid outbreak and govt response is discussed here.

What has happened in West Bengal elections is not a matter between TMC and BJP alone. It is the long protracted sequele of electoral malpractices that generations of Bengalis have been witnessing…earlier by Congress in the post-independence period that took an ugly turn in the Communist government who trained their cadre to be brutal against the political adversaries and opponents. It is the same formula that Mamata Banerjee’s TMC is pursuing.

Even Union Govt faltered in not cautioning / assisting the state Govts in the nick of time…the middle of March 21. Maharashtra Govt is extremely culpable in not informing the extreme virulence of the new variant. Election Commission of India too must hold their head in shame in not being proactive in applying curbs on electoral process.
