11 yrs of Modi Govt

11 yrs of Modi Govt: Part-1: The Honesty

Introduction

On 26 May 2025, Modi Govt has completed 11 yrs. He had assumed the high office of the govt at a time when the governance was in the doldrums. India was among ‘Fragile Five Nations’ in the world, marred in policy paralysis as well as considered the most corrupt govt of all times. Although Narsimha Rao govt in 1991 had given a lease of life to the ailing economy of the nation by bringing a progressive financial policy, that could not be exploited much by the successive govts having old mindset. A flicker of hope came in 1999 Bajpayee Govt but the trend was quickly reversed by Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) I (2004-09) & II (2009-14). Inflation went up high in double digits, there was no scope for job creation, unemployment was rampant, fear of Islamic terror created ripples, modernisation of Armed Forces were in limbo and practically all depts of the UPA govt were struggling. Desperations were running high by the end of UPA-II in 2014 that made Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to come into power with huge mandate. The 5 yrs of Modi-I was astounding that gave him even larger mandate in 2019.

Modi Mantra of National Development

Immediately after coming to power at the Centre, Modi sought to narrow the divide among people through “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas” meaning ‘national development by everyone’s participation. His govt sought to downplay appeasement politics and his policies stuck to it. In his second stint in 2019, he added “Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas” meaning winning everyone’s trust and contribution in the national development. However, in a nation where even Constitution is biased in recognizing ‘Personal Law Board’ of some faith/religion and denying the same to the others, the latter mantra is becoming difficult to implement. Still Modi govt firmly believes in taking the benefit of development to all citizen without discrimination. For the first time, a union govt is taking the benefit of development to even the last person of weaker section standing in queue of the societies. Starting with the basic needs of home, toilets, safe drinking water, free rations, free health care; the list of welfare for poor goes on. Modi mantra is essentially to reach out to the four sections of citizens namely: youth, women, farmer and the poor.

There was a valid reason for the high probability of Modi’s win in 2024 owing to unprecedented achievements in his two tenures of governance. It is for the first time in the history of independent India that a govt has remain unblemished on the issues of corruption and scams which were raining day & night in the recent past of UPA days (2004-2014). Achievements of Modi govt has been par excellence in alleviating poverty, completing numerous developmental projects and taking Indian economy forward from fragile five to the 5th largest in the world. Besides, India has gained voice that the world listens to. Indian defence forces have received a major modernization and moving towards self-reliance. Foreign Ministry has been lauded time and again for their resilient diplomacy and Manufacturing sector has gained large momentum.

The fruit of national prosperity is now being tasted by all citizens of India esp those belonging to the priority groups of the poor, youths, women and farmers. In fact, as an answer to the opposition trying to divide Indians, Modi Govt has created four classes as their key response area. Firstly, the Poor have received homes under PM Awas, toilets provided to all homes, safe & potable drinking water supply being extended to rural areas under PM Jal-Jeevan Scheme, electricity connections provided to all, free grains provided to all BPL families under PM Gareeb Anna Yojna and free healthcare benefits extended to 10 Cr families under PM Ayushman Bharat Yojna besides many other schemes. Secondly, for the Youths, a highly useful National Education Policy has been implemented keeping employability in focus. Higher education has been improved thru’ numerous new IITs, AIIMSs, IIMs, State aided Medical & Engg colleges. Many Universities providing unique programs such as sports, traditional medicine, vocational training etc have been started. Those unable to pursue higher educations, have been provided with free Skill Development program. Further, in order to alleviate unemployment, security-free MUDRA loans have been provided to the youth not only for self-employment but also to become job providers for others. Govt has also initiated creation of new jobs esp in private sectors that has mixed response. Thirdly, for the Women, Modi govt has opened almost all sectors. Modi Govt has given a mantra to the world for Women-led Development and his govt has started implementing in India too. Workplace for women have been made safer against age-old male dominance and long-awaited Women Reservation bill has been passed in 2024 and made into an Act. Women have especially been provided ownership in PM Awas, Ujjwala LPG scheme, Lakhpati-didi scheme, Drone-didi besides numerous others. Fourthly, farmers of the nation for the first time are receiving PM Samman Nidhi of Rs 6000/- per annum directly in their bank accounts. The MSP rise in the farm produce has been maximum in the 11 yrs of Modi Govt. Easy farm loan, subsidized fertilisers, soil card, drip irrigation etc have mixed response. However, additional works are needed to fulfil Modi’s promise of doubling farmer’s income. The three Farm-bills could have resolved the problems but poor narratives set by the opposition politicians and the middlemen of Punjab & Haryana derailed its introduction. In short, Modi govt has been able to reach out to all sections of people of the nation.

A Unique Model of Modi Governance

Modi surprised the world with his unique development models for new India with making of toilets for the poor, creating zero-balance Jan-Dhan bank accounts linking the poor with banking system, connecting 18000 leftover villages with the national electrical grid and providing free connections to the poor homes. It is a fact though that he remains connected to the vast populace thru’ his unique “Man ki baat” radio program even after >10 yrs of starting it. He has tried to bring-in transparency in the various departments of his govt making full use of online approach. This has also helped in ‘ease of doing business’ both nationally and internationally.

People saw Modi govt honestly trying to work for their causes and connected themselves with many of the mass movements...be it Swachchh Bharat AbhiyanOpen defecation free (ODF) villages; voluntarily giving up multiple LPG connections for distribution to poor women under Ujjwala Scheme among many others. Modi Govt has been encouraging the skilled unemployed to take up self-employment thru’ various financing schemes be it MUDRA Scheme, Start-up / Stand-up India, Vishwakarma scheme to earn livelihood as well as providing jobs to the others. Actually, there is an enormous list of achievements through the above model of governance some of which are enumerated below:-

Fifteen Very Special Achievements of Modi Govt

Other than the numerous many citizen-centric programs run in the different periods, fifteen major achievements of Modi Govt in their 11 yrs could be enumerated as below:-

  1. Corruption-free 11 yrs of governance at Centre.
  2. Removal of many ‘Black money sources’ thru’ demonetisation, GST reforms.
  3. India becoming 4th highest economy of the word from the fragile-five in 2014.
  4. Alleviating 26 Cr poor above Poverty Line, providing basic amenities.
  5. Unprecedented development of infrastructures, the wheel of economic growth.

  7. Union Govt kept development of the North-East States on high priority.
  8. Modernisation of Defence Forces at unprecedented pace on Atmnirbhar plans.

  13. Boost to Digital India with many services at finger tips.
  14. ‘India First’ policies and positioning it on global stage by the Govt.
  15. Focus on “Developed India” plan by the year 2047.

The above are only some of the high end citizen and nation oriented programs of Modi govt initiated and implemented in the last eleven years. Some other actions of Modi Govt that earned high pitch political narrative included abrogating Art 370, Constructing Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, leading Global Solar Alliance for renewable energy, reforming Muslim Personal Law of 3-Talaq, adopting women’s reservation law, amending Waqf law that had become a symbol of loot (read “Waqf Acts of Loot India”, https://thecounterviews.in/articles/waqf-acts-of-loot-india/) etc are only some to enumerate.

Corruption-free honest governance at Centre. History may like to decide as to which PM of India had been the most sincere, dedicated and responsive to its citizen in general and the nation as a whole. Author feels it is PM Modi forking for the betterment of the nation 18 hrs a day, all days a month and all months a year. He has been running a corruption-free, scam-free governance of 11 yrs. This is unprecedented in Indian history. His resolve of “ खाऊंगा,  खाने दूंगा” is creating much of heartburn among Congress-led I.N.D.I-alliance of Thugs (read “Chors & Thugs of Indian Polity”, https://thecounterviews.in/articles/chors-and-thugs-in-indian-polity/). In addition, Direct Bank Transfers (DBT) to the beneficiaries have plugged the loopholes from where the thugs used to leak out the funds (refer Rajiv Gandhi’s words that when he sent 1 rupee, only 15 paise reached the beneficiaries).

While all previous union governments had been marred in various levels of corruptions in their various departments, Modi Govt stands out as an example of an honest and transparent govt. This fact is indisputable as even desperate opposition looking with a magnifying glass is unable to find corruption. Rahul Gandhi, the best political liar and disinformationist of all times, has received several slaps on face by the judiciary for his false allegations (read “Rahul Gandhi: The best in fabricating lies and dis-information”, https://thecounterviews.in/articles/rahul-gandhi-the-best-in-fabricating-lies-and-disinformation/). Union Govt under PM Modi remains unblemished in his 11 yrs. It is a unique achievement of the govt since independence. This honesty of Modi govt has been acknowledged by the entire nation and that makes the politicians of opposition party the most jittery, impossible to be dented.
