Intended Military Operations Against Paki-Terrorists by India
Introduction
The govt of India under PM Narendra Modi has authorized its Armed Forces to carry out a credible attack on the Pakistan-based terrorist groups who have been carrying out numerous many terror attacks in India esp in the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir. The prelude to the above is of course the Pahelgam terror attack of 22 Apr 2025 on the Hindu tourists for which Pakistan based ‘TRF’ accepted the onus. The initial investigation carried out by NIA indicates that the attackers belonged to Pakistan based LeT group.
Numerous many other attacks by varied terrorist groups have taken place in the recent months and years after Balakot counterstrike on Pakistan in 2019. Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on 23 Apr 25 has authorized a multicentric attack on Pakistan duly backed by the Govt of India. Govt of India has held the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) in abeyance with immediate effect; Indo-Pak trade through border routes have been suspended and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has also initiated a few other diplomatic offensives. Armed Forces was placed on high alert on the same day, and they have also been asked to prepare a contingency plan if Pakistani Armed Forces choses to retaliate the impending attacks on their India-centric Jihadi establishments. It is believed that one or more of such groups, be it LeT, Hizb-ul-Mujahiddin, JeM or some of the Harkat groups could be under attacks. It could be their major hideouts or training camps that could be the targets of the Indian attacks. The attack will be carefully crafted at a time and place to be decided by the Services Chiefs so as to cause maximum attrition.
Recurrent Jihadi Terror Attacks in J&K
The series of major Jihadi attacks in J&K other than the recent Pahelgam attack causing losses of lives among civilians, security forces or Army, are enumerated in the Text boxes below:-
It is not only the Security forces & Army that have borne the brunt of the Pak-based terrorist Organisation but even large numbers of civilians of both J&K as well as the other parts of India have been targeted. Various Defence Experts have been expressing their opinions in the last few years for the Indian Armed Forces to launch pro-active attacks on the numerous many terrorist launch pads by precision attack artilleries or combat helicopters without crossing the LoC. If this could have been carried out, Pahelgam and many other incidents would not have taken place. Further, the numerous attacks on Indian security forces and civilians are not merely terrorist attacks BUT also represents a form of low-key Jihadi movement by both Pakistani Terrorists as well as their support groups and radical Muslims in the state of J&K. Such jihadi activities are taking place in many other Muslim-dominated Districts of West Bengal and Kerala too. If the Union Govt remains indifferent to it, more districts of other states could also be engulfed. In J&K, had it been only a militancy, our Security Forces and the Armed Forces would have controlled it in the near 35 yrs BUT is not militancy alone. It is Jihad in which non-Muslims and their supporters (incl Muslims who support them) are being targeted. Major attacks on the civilians are enumerated in the text boxes below. After the abrogation of Constitutional Article 370 in the state, terrorism has reduced to large extent BUT jihadists are indulging in the targeted killings of Kashmiri Hindus as mentioned below. This lists only the incidences till early 2023 although such targeted killings of Hindus in J&K continue, randomly though.
It is another matter though that several local jihadi groups have also emerged in J&K in the last many decades as enumerated in the text box below:-
Besides, there are large numbers of Hindu pilgrims mostly going to Amarnath yatra who became victims of Jihadi attacks by mostly Pakistan-based terrorist groups often supported by their overground workers in J&K. The present Modi govt must be complimented that the security forces could thwart some major jihadi attacks on the pilgrims in 2022, 2019 and 2015 by apprehending the terrorists before they could mount their attacks. Establishments of Terror Groups in Pakistan
Numerous many attacks on civilians, security forces and Army in the Jammu Kashmir region in the last few decades are untenable. These attacks have been carried out by the various terrorist groups based in Pakistan. It is also known that most of these terror groups are being utilized by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief of Pakistan duly assisted and funded by various civil and military departments in Pakistani Govt. In the initial days of 1980s, some of these terror groups were raised with assistance of the United States Departments to inflict losses on the USSR troops occupying Afghanistan but in the subsequent period radical Islam took hold of Pakistani territories with various objectives of criminal acts of Jihad. Among the groups, some were India centric and others against Russian forces in Afghanistan, supporting the Uyghurs of Xinjiang (China), against Shia Muslims on own as well as Iranian territories. Some of Pakistani Islamic terrorist groups are active in middle east as well. Major Jihadi Terror groups in Pakistan are mentioned below:-
Detailed records of terrorist groups, their permanent Head Quarters and training camps are known to the UN, USA and many world institutions mapping terror activities. Muzaffarabad in PoK is single one city where offices and terror camps of almost all terror groups are present. In addition, Muridke (Lahore) for LeT, Bahawalpur for JeM and Mansehra for Al Badr are special terrorist hubs.
It is notable that almost all Islamic nations are responsible for the foundation, funding and manning of the numerous many Islamic terrorist organizations the world over, some of whom are enumerated in the text box below:-
India specific terrorist groups in Pakistan are the ones highlighted in bold letters in the text box above although others also do indulge when directed by Pak ISI. Terrorist groups which carried out the recent Pahelgam attack on the tourists, are believed to be the members of ‘The resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the LeT.
The Impending Strike on Pak Terror Camps
Govt of India has requested the citizen from indulging in speculations on the impending attacks. It is for sure that the attacks will take place but when, on whom and in what form, no one knows. Going by the past track record of Modi Govt, they have shown their keenness to counterattack the terror groups based in Pakistan. They had authorized a Surgical strike in PoK after Uri attack of 2016 and also following Pulwama attack in 2019. These were the bold steps of Modi govt who unlike the previous Congress-led governments, refuged to bow down to the Paki terror groups. PM Modi himself witnessed the planning and execution of the surgical strikes. Hence, no one in the world has any doubt that a counter-offensive as announced by PM Modi, is sure to take place. Pulwama attack was planned and executed by Jaish-e-Muhammed hence, their major training camp in Balakot was attacked. The 22 Apr Pahelgam attack was carried out by LeT and some major terror attacks in the preceding months and years mentioned above, were carried out by different terror groups. Hence, it is widely expected that the next surgical strike will be on different terror groups involved in the recent terror attacks. It could be much bigger than Balakot.
Possible Indian Contingency Plans
It is widely known that the numerous many Pakistani Terrorist groups are operating under the command and control of Pakistani ISI and protected by Pakistani Military. Pakistani leaderships have openly come in support of their terrorist groups issuing threats to the Indian Armed Forces not to attack them. Of course, Pakistan is rattled by the impending Indian attacks on their Jihadi groups for which India is undeterred. If Pakistan counter-attacks India, it could be an all-out conflagration of Indian response resulting in Indo-Pak war even if limited. Indian Armed Forces is ready with the contingency plans to any conflagration. It is believed that Indian Armed Forces will have three main objectives. Firstly, strike at the Jihadi Camps to bring them at their knees. Secondly, to decimate their Armed Forces to an extent that they are unable to mount any war against India. Last but not the least, bring back the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) to India. It has to be crafted carefully because part of the PoK has been ceded by Pakistan to China. The main aim of the Indian Armed Forces should be to bring the CPEC in the direct line of fire and make Pakistan & China bleed slowly for few years before taking control of the whole of it. All three objectives will be challenging but not impossible.
India has options to strike the various targets either by IAF, Navy or Strategic Command forces. Pakistan has threatened irresponsibly to retaliate. The most of Pakistani Combat vehicles are of Chinese origin, inferior in firepower. Chinese jetfighters are heavy, poor in combat; no match to Indian Rafale, LCA, SU-30 and Mirahe-2000. Similar are the limitations on Pakistani naval assets of Chinese origin. However, Tanks and armored veh are comparable to Indian ones. It is other matter though that tanks will be useless in the mountainous terrains across LoC. It is also likely that some of the combat equipment that USA abandoned in Afghanistan, could have been taken covertly by Pakistan. It will be wise for Indian Mil Intelligence to know of it. In short thus, Pakistan does not have the number and strength of combat assets to wage war on India. However, if they do, India far exceeds in power to neutralize Pakistan.
Pakistan does not have the capacity to fight more than 10 days of war whereas India has modernized its ordinance Factories towards self-reliance to sustain many weeks of operations by all three services. They have even threatened to attack with their nukes hence, Indian response of retaliation is understandable. The Strategic Command Force is also on high alert. Should Pakistan indulge in any misadventure with nukes, it will be decimated by the Indian retaliations. As such, India had self-restrained themselves of no first strike but disproportionate retaliation. Irresponsible nuke threats coming out from Pakistan is not for the first time. While suffering from hunger, Paki Mullahs had advised their leadership to blackmail the rich nations of the world with Nuke in one hand and the hateful Quran in the other. It was worthy taking note of such rants because these Mullahs do have their say in the Islamic States incl Pakistan. India Remains Firm to Act
Modi Govt remains undeterred by conflicting inputs coming from international platforms. Although all nations had condemned the 22 Apr 25 jihadi attack in Pahelgam, the subsequent narratives are changing. UN/UNSC has suggested to avoid conflict. China had suggested to investigate the terror attack transparently by international communities. It is worthy to note that China does not permit its extreme human rights violations against the Uyghur Muslims undergoing repression for a long. India must not fall prey to such suggestions because permitting Paki-ISI in Pathankot attack investigation in past proved counter-productive. China has claimed support to Pakistan because they don’t want their $112 billion debtee to be decimated. It is come to light that Turkey has supplied a few attack drones which will not survive credible Air Defence that India possesses. Some terrorist groups from Middle East could be expected to side with Pakistan although no official announcement has come.
There are some backers and well-wishers of Pakistan within India too. They are essentially the ‘Muslim Vote-Bank’ politicians and the Radical Islamists. Although Opposition politicians have vowed to remain firm with the government in these hours of difficult times, some individual statements are not very congenial. Even though Sedition law has been repealed, the New Bhartiya Nyay Samhita does provide provisions of law under its section 150 that could discourage anti-national activities.
The Bottom-Lines
Pakistani Terrorist groups mounting series of terror attacks in J&K and elsewhere in India, have perpetuated it in their 22 Apr 25 Pahelgam attack on the innocent Hindu Pilgrims. They and their backers/handlers are slotted to be punished through credible surgical strikes on their own territories by the Indian Armed forces. The present Indian govt has already mandated such attacks at own choosing of time and places. Preparations have also been made to counter any Pakistani misadventure following attacks on their terror establishments. If Pakistan counters by their military attack, India is likely to inflict heaviest of the losses on Pakistani Military establishments. As such, some other measures have already been initiated that will hit them hard on the long run. It is a direct message to Pakistan and its jihadi support groups. They better refrain from any indulgence against India.
